Framed Hero Mini Test Prints - Available Now

We finally took some time to go through just some of the piles of test prints we have in the studio. So, available in store now: framed 5" x 7" one-of-a-kind Hero test prints. We have a bunch already framed and available for purchase and we are putting more out each day. Just $14.99 each or unframed at $9.99 each!! Buy one or buy a few and take 'em right home and hang them on your wall or wrap them up for a great one-of-a-kind holiday gift.

Not in the Buffalo area and wanna buy some? Send us an email and we will send you photos of the available designs: hero.design{at}mac.com. These will be available online very soon, probably within the week. Look for em.

Here is a sample of just a few of the prints available: (we have over 20 different designs available and they are always changing)

Penguin Fine Books

Just when I thought I couldn't geek out anymore about book design, Penguin releases a series of beautifully bound hardback books designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith. The set includes The Picture of Dorian Grey, Pride and Prejudice, Madame Bovary, Wuthering Heights, Sense and Sensibility, Tess of the d’Urbervilles, Crime and Punishment, Jane Eyre, Great Expectations, and Cranford. Unfortunately, they’re only available in the U.K. currently, so for now we drool at the photos online and make friends with the paperbacks.

This is my favorite book from the series:

The Dog Photo Booth

Two of my favorite things and apparently photographer Sharon Montrose's as well, dogs and photo booth strips! How cute are these little stinkers? GOSH! This is a personal project by Montrose and it can be seen here.

A to Z of New Zealand Stamps.

I really love stamps, both old and new. These lovelies are no exception. An A to Z look at New Zealand's culture, history, and heritage, in 26 super great looking stamps.

"Of course there are 26 stamps, one for each letter of the alphabet, and each showing something uniquely New Zealand. Where else would an ‘L’ stand for ‘log o wood’ – referring of course to the hotly contested provincial rugby Ranfurly Shield; or ‘G’ for ‘goodnight kiwi’ the lovable little chap who’s bedtime ritual used to signal the night’s end to TV viewing."

Here are my favs from the set:

Bumble and bumble Holiday Goodies

Saw this over at NOTCOT and I was so excited 'cuz I love Bumble and bumble so much and these products are just amazing. The Bb.Bandball is genius, it's a prestarted rubber band ball for your hair bands, complete with notches for your bands, so no more losing them.

Not only does Bb. have the best hair products I have ever found, their packaging, advertising and their entire aesthetic is always top notch. If you are looking for Bumble and bumble products locally in the Buffalo area definitely go to New Age Salon, and while you are there get the best cut of your life.

From Bumble and bumble about the hair bauble:

“The limited edition hair baubles were designed exclusively for Bumble and bumble by artist, inventor and lover of functional objects, Piet Houtenbos (son of Hair Hero Christiaan). The boxes (designed by resident Bumble and bumble artist Gillian Haro) feature illustrations of hair tools that look like something you’d discover in a curiosities shop - in a mad mix of fun, festive, carnival colors.”

Matchbook Museum

Came across this lovely website the Matchbook Museum, a great collection of vintage matchbooks, with descriptions about the business they are for.

Here are some of my favs:

My Stapler is staring at me....

Yeh, I am pretty sure I need these Inanimate Character Stickers. I would make my computer a little dude, so I can stare into his eyes lovingly ALL day long. Might as well make it interesting since I stare at it all day long anyhow, right? So much cuteness and they are removable.

Pelican Book Covers

Anyone who knows me well, knows my obsession with book cover designs, both new and old. I came across this link on NotCot.org, it is a collection of Pelican covers from 1930's - 1980's organized by decade, and then by year. There are so many gems in there!!! Here are just a few of my favs.

The End

The End is one of the coolest Flickr collections I have ever seen. The collection so simply named, is from Dill Pixel and it is and assortment of end screens from old films. These images are all teasers just begging me to go back and watch the whole movie that brought those amazing final screens.
