I love anything modern for the kitchen. Gadgets, tools, appliances even salt and pepper shakers.

I'm a big fan of the stylized hand-tools. Nothing says awesome, more than a dish scrubber that looks like a toy octopus when it's not in use. @Denise Kaufmann: I feel like the salt-and-pepper shaker combo is a classic that is in need of a unique take. Perhaps, one unit with a slider that regulated if you're getting salt and/or pepper. Talk about time savings! I don't have to say "Please, pass the salt." and then say "Please, pass the pepper." I could say "Please, Pass the seas-o-tron2k9!"... what if it was robotic and could pass itself?! We live in the future!

One more idea, an empty-beer-bottle holder. The drunker you get, the more sculpture you have! No more rows, upon rows, of bottles after the part. You have an art piece instead!

I am a big, big fan of the Eames Hang-It-All Rack. In addition to being both classic and completely modern, it's incredibly versatile. We could use this in our entryway, our kitchen, or our office. I love the pop of color it would lend to our space.

Oooooo! I can't resist entering this give-away because the Eames Hang-it-all rack has been on my wish list for a million years. Not only is it lovely and functional, but I'd like to walk past it every day and be reminded of Charles and Ray Eames, a couple I find very inspiring.

I'd love that Eames rack-- I love how it makes me think of old scientific books and seems great for a little splash of color to a room. I admire everything Eames so that's an additional bonus!

This give-away is amazing! So many great items, but I would have to say that I would choose the Eames hang-it-all rack because it's gorgeous, and I can use all of the organizational help that I can get! Thank you!

The Eames Hang-it-All is a definite need-to-have item for me, although I'm pretty sure my cat would choose those cute Alessi bowls!

The colorful and fun cat bowls would be my choice! But what color??? Tough decision. Hmmm. May need to let Eddie (orange tabby) decide.

Afficionados Head Honcho said...

The cat food bowls are my absolute fave - in blue, easy choice - its a colour coordinated house and the kitchen - any new purchase has to have some blue in it.

I already have tons of posters hanging from the walls, but I would love to have some wine hanging from the wall. However, the hang-it-all takes the cheese in my opinion!!!

Whenever you walk into a kitchen and say "what the hell is that?"... thats what is necessary. The kitchen utensil has a habit of function more than form, but when the balance is struck, minds are blown. If you are going to use something everyday, then I want it to be something I love to look at. Putting salt on my corn should inspire me.

I love the Eames Hang-It-All Rack. I'm partial to anything Eames, but I really think this is one of the most affordable, accessible and functional Eames designed products out there. I hang quite a bit of thinks on push pins and thats quite ugly! I would love to have this hang it all rack to make things look a bit more classy! Thank you so much for the opportunity to snag one of these great items!

and here i thought you were giving away a "modern housewife"! who knew? some of my home necessities seem decidedly un-modern: a pastry board with cloth (for pie crusts!), a pasta roller set (cuz doing that shizz with a rolling pin gets old), a hat rack (where else are you going to put your hats, fool? we don't have the closet space for a hatbox party, okay?), a strawberry huller (those are just like rad magical fun gadgets)... i also really like things i don't have: lazy susans, under-the-bed storage boxes, etc. oh noes, hero-blog brought out my acquisitive nature. damn you, hero-blog!! now letta can haz prizes?

p.s. my captcha was "judytpot" which is totally gonna be my new nom de plume.

I am a big fan of the hang it all rack for its color, but would feel complete with the wine set! Not only is it stylish it would make for a great conversation piece while entertaining friends and family, and there is nothing I enjoy more then spending time with friends and family.

If there's one thing all cat owners know, it's that living with a feline changes your design sensibilities. The half-chewed toys lying on the floor become fuzzy statuettes. Those hairball stain on the carpet give a unique, one of a kind look to it. The claw-torn couch in the living room looks so much more chic in the "distressed" style. But every cat owner, no matter how rose-colored their glasses are, can see those Alessi Tigrito Cat Bowl's are some good looking pieces of houseware. And I know that, should I win, adding one to my cat-touched collection would bring about a true touch of feline design- no claws necessary.

The Eames Hang-it-all is all out modern classic. I think it would look lovely in the same room as our Nelson clock.

Making a decision like this is hard. I love Alessi, and I love kitchenware. I would choose the wine set but only because I really need a good wine opener. The wine rack is too decorative for me.
What I would really like to see is a well designed water cooler. I can put up with the large blue jugs in the laundry room but the cooler sits in a prime spot in my kitchen and it's u-g-l-y. Maybe something sleek with minimal color, clean lines, and aerodynamic-like.

Give me clean-lined utilitarian and colorful, three things that modern did very, very well. I love anything that has potential to either create something else (tools, gadgets, implements) or anything useful that you realize enhances your quality of life just by having it in your eye line. The coat rack is straight up my jar of yarn for that reason.

I would love to have the Cioso Wall-Mounted Wine Bottle Holder! It has to be the most stunning wine rack I have ever seen!

I love the Eames Hang-It All Rack. Would go perfectly with my on going collection of mid-century modern housewares :)

Definitely the Eames Hang-It-All Rack. I need to stop "hanging" my clothes on the floor.

the wine rack is simultaneously industrial and sexy. . .

I think all the prizes you have chosen are fantastic. but the one thing i can't live with out and still have yet to find is a really good potato masher. most of the ones i've found lack in one area or another some have crappy handles but good mashers, others have mashers that its nearly impossible to get all the potatoes off of when you are cleaning it. its like the people designing these only really pays attention to one part of it. i just might have to design my own one day... nice job on the contest. great idea.

I have to admit, I'm partial to the Hang-It-All Rack. It just looks so cool all by itself, I'd be tempted to just set it up and stare at it as a piece of contemporary art!

If I won the Eames Hang-It-All Rack, not only would I have something nice to hang on my wall, but I'd regain use of the chair in my living room.

I would say that the "the ex" knife holder is pretty amazing, if you havent' seen it check it out,

I dig the wine stuff! My wine bottles could look like those guys on the poles in Cirque Du Solei...

So...
I saw this contest the first day and immediately knew I wanted that Alessi sugar bowl in my life... However I wanted to wait and think of the best way to express this. SO here is my Haiku about the orange sugar bowl.

Oh lovely orange
hold my sugar free from harm
I love you come home

Thank you. I hope this makes my sugar bowl dreams come true.

Oooo... I want the wine rack! That slick, chrome, minimalist piece belongs in my kitchen. Only then will I find some kind of peace and order to my collection of favorite wine label designs!

Unknown said...

Wow! Functionality + great design! I love 'em all! One item in my kitchen I could not live without is a wing corkscrew. Definitely a necessity!

That orange bowl is amazing, I want it. I have a new place that I just moved into and I'm in need of some really great designer pieces like this.

You know when you're little and you tell your parents that you want a pony and that if you don't get it, surely you will die? That's pretty much how I feel about that wine set. It's pure art. If I don't have it in my house,I SURELY will die.

Unknown said...

I have to say that I am still gunnin for the Blomus Wine Set! I am a sucker for chrome finish :)

I always love Eames, but all of those items would look swell in our new North Carolina apartment.

I think the Alessi Birds of Paradise set would be the best in my kitchen. I've never seen anything quite like it and would be a great conversation starter over weekend brunch. I need it!

I like the idea of a cat bowl that doesn't require me to fully stoop to the ground in order to refill.

Unfortunately I do not like the idea of cats though.
