Kid Robot Lounge Opening in Toronto this Weekend

The brand-new Kid Robot lounge inside of mega-club Circa in Toronto has it's Grand Opening this Friday October 5th. You can pickup exclusive releases there too, the 10-inch Silver Bondage Labbit and the 3-inch Peter Gatien Dunny. We will definitely be getting up there soon to check it out.

Yinz Got Posters - Rock Art Show - Pittsburgh, PA

Hero is a part of "Yinz Got Posters", the first annual Artists' Image Resource rock art show, featuring the posters of over 30 contemporary, working poster artists from all over the United States, and even a set of Canadians. The show will run September 8, 2007 through October 8, 2007 with a big opening reception on September 8th from 7-10pm. If you are in the Pittsburgh area bring your butt on out for it, and bring yinz friends and yinz friends' friends.

AIR is a dynamic and unique, not-for-profit community print studio in Pittsburgh, PA that has played host to artists and printmakers from all over the world. AIR has initiated work with dozens of regional and national artists over its ten year history such as Mike Budai, Mat Daly, Jay Ryan, John Ritter, The Little Friends of Printmaking, Nathan Ouldage, Julie Meredith, Mary Tremonte, and strawberryluna to name a few.

Hero in Seattle for Bumbershoot - Flatstock 14

Hero will be in Seattle for Flatstock 14 which will be held Sept 1-4 at the Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival. If you are at Bumbershoot be sure to swing by and say "HEY!" and check out some of the new stuff and special prices we'll have. We added a couple of days on our trip so we could attempt to have what some people like to call a "vacation", although the laptops and iPhones will be in tow and we will be working.

However, that means the boutique here in Buffalo will be closed from August 30th until Sept 5th, sorry for any inconveniences and be sure to keep an eye out when we return for lots of new stuff to be released, including posters for Elvis Costello, Feist, Grizzly Bear, and for vinyl, the new Joe Ledbetter Finders Keepers series and the Smorkin' Labbit Series 3, and so much more.

Paper Dolls 2007 - Featuring Hero's Elizabeth Manos-Brickey

Elizabeth Manos-Brickey of Hero, will be featured in PAPER DOLLS 2007: Works on Paper. A group exhibition of women poster artists from around the world. This amazing event is a fundraiser for The Women's Art Center in Salt Lake City Utah. The show will run August 17th - September 14th. The opening reception will be Friday, August 17th from 6 - 10 at the Women's Art Center. If you are in the area be sure to check it out.

The Women's Art Center, a non-profit organization, offers a safe and nurturing environment in which women are able to particpate in workshops and classes. The Women's Art Center also provides a gallery space for contemporary artists, both male and female. We also collaborate with organizations like The Road Home Women's Shelter, the Cancer Wellness House of Utah, and the Salt Lake Youth Shelter. This year they are starting a program to offer scholarships to young women in Utah.

Hero is looking for interns for the Fall Semester

We are looking for 2 or 3 college interns for the upcoming Fall semester. We will be interviewing from now until the end of August (or longer if need be) for the positions.

Applicants must have experience in Photoshop and Illustrator, and have a solid understanding of print design. Experience or knowledge of web design and coding including Dreamweaver and/or Flash are a definite plus. We are looking for someone with self-motivation and a strong desire to learn new skills.

These positions are for serious applicants only. Positions will require a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week for the entire semester. Please contact us at [beth at heroandsound.com] and let us know a little about you, a resume/portfolio if you have it. Please no phone calls.

We also wanted to thank everyone that we met in Chicago at Pitchfork. We met so many awesome people, sold a lot of posters and tees, saw a lot of amazing bands, and had a great time. The weather was absolutely perfect this year. See everyone next year!

Flatstock 13 - Pitchfork Music Festival - Chicago, IL

Hero will once again be in Chicago this upcoming weekend for Flatstock 13!!! Flatstock 13 is being held AT Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park. Saturday & Sunday July 14th & 15th, noon to 10pm both days!!!


Poster artists from around the world will be pitching tents in Union Park for the world famous convention sponsored by the American Poster Institute, dedicated to the promotion of music poster art and design worldwide. Come grab posters and hear the stories behind them straight from the artist. FLATSTOCK is free for everyone with a Pitchfork Music Festival pass so come one come all. Show up early and be ready to be overwhelmed with amazing posters (you might want to bring some dough too since you won't want to leave empty handed.) FLATSTOCK is an all-ages event.
